NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS & NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES

DBI provided design services for two major Constitution Center tenants: the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. The objective for each tenant’s office was to transform disparate departments into a unified, fully modernized, functionally contiguous space. DBI accomplished this objective by allowing natural light to flow into interior offices; sharing and co-mingling support spaces; and reducing and minimizing filing and book storage through the use of cut-through corridors and shelves. The spaces featured warm neutral colors with accents of green (NEA) and blue (NEH) and an open plenum waffle-slab with acoustical floating clouds over workstations. One particular challenge unique to this project was the simultaneous coordination and construction of both tenants’ offices.
