Congratulations to DBI’s Operation Backpack Team for winning the Gold Star in the MOI, Kimball Office, and DIRTT Operation Backpack: Back to Basics Competition held at MOI’s DC showroom on August 22, 2013. The event was held to sponsor Volunteers of America Chesapeake in its mission to provide school supplies for children living in domestic violence shelters. Participant teams from 12 local A&D firms had 1 hour and 15 minutes to design a backpack.
DBI’s winning team, which included Rachel Williams, Leslie Davis, Sarah Benjamin, Socrates Tiglao, and Jennifer Boyer, designed a backpack titled “Totes-a-Muppet”: a silver tote bag featuring interchangeable snap patches—one of which is a Kermit the Frog puppet—that can be removed to personalize the design. Lined with black-and-white patterned mustache duct tape, the bag also offers a handy interior pocket.
Other teams included Leo Daly, VOA, BBG-BBGM, ASD, OTJ, Intec Group, OPX, Focus, HKS, and Hickok Cole.
